Christian Life Fellowship

C.L.A. was founded as a ministry of Christian Life Fellowship in June of 1978 after six months of prayer, study, and research into the area of Christian Education. This came about when Pastor Carl Conley related to the board of directors of C.L.F. the vision of member Barbara Wehmeier to have a ministry in the church that would minister to children on a daily basis. Affirming that this vision was from the Lord, Pastor Conley and the board set upon inquiring of the Lord what would be the best avenue to fulfill this vision. The board sought input from parents, educators, and from other pastors who had schools, daycare, and other children's ministries as part of their church structure.

Christian Life Fellowship (CLF), formerly First Assembly of God, has been serving the city of Santa Fe, New Mexico since 1941, and has always endeavored to minister to the three cultures that are representative of our city, Native American, Hispanic, and Anglo. It was founded on the premise of instructing people in the ways of God. C.L.A. is a natural extension of this vision.

While researching how best to fulfill this vision, Pastor Conley and the board of directors set forth the guiding principles of how C.L.A. would function. They are as follows:
1.        This academy will provide spiritual and educational instruction to the children of Christian families. 2.        We are here first and foremost to exalt the name of the Lord Jesus Christ and see that our students are given every opportunity to accept Him as their personal Lord and Savior. 3.        Keeping the cost of tuition and other fees as low as possible so as not to make this educational opportunity out of financial reach for the members of the congregation. 4.        Provide a well-rounded quality program, which covers not only the academic and spiritual aspects, but also provides social, athletic, musical, artistic and ministerial outreach opportunities for the students.

We researched curriculum and decided upon the Accelerated Christian Education, (A.C.E.) approach, as this choice was the best fit not only with what we wanted to accomplish with the above guidelines, but it worked well with our facilities, as classroom space was at a premium. The Christian worldview and Biblical principles espoused throughout the curriculum were what we were looking for in teaching the core subjects and electives. It was also well received by parents who were looking for Education with a Christian worldview for their children.

Initially serving the families of CLF, the Academy was located in the church sanctuary and required weekly set up and breakdown of equipment. As the church began to grow, the interest in the ministry of the school expanded. This led us to look for another facility, and it was decided that selling our property and building a new church/school complex was the best route to pursue. This was accomplished in September of 1982, when we moved to our present location.

Since its inception in 1978  the Academy has experienced a steady growth in students who are a representation of families from our church and various local congregations within our surrounding area. Due to this growth in facilities and numbers we have been able to provide an expanding quality of this program to our students.

CLA is fully accredited through ICAA (International  Christian Accreditation Association) through Oral Roberts University.  This not only affirms our accomplishments in educating future Christian leaders, but is a testimony to new students and families to whom we offer a quality academic and spiritual enviornment.

With the completion of our latest building expansion, we added more classrooms, gymnasium and dining facililties, thus allowing us to follow the Lord's leading through the newly transitioned combination of Abeka and Alpha Omega curriculum.  It is the desire of CLF/CLA to continually strive for excellence in ourselves, and our God-given purpose of raising up the next generation of Godly leaders for Christ.
